Lok Foundation |
Lok Foundation, a non-profit entity, was created as the principal entity of the Lok Capital group to provide specialized funding and long-term technical assistance for financial and social inclusion. The foundation is funded both by grants and by investment gains from its shareholding in Lok Fund I.
Lok Foundation believes that in India “Inclusion” has a very unique significance. India is the only country to attempt economic development post universal suffrage (i.e. economic development following political development/ democracy). So in the Indian context, “Inclusion” is a political, social and national necessity and therefore it is imperative to better understand what it means and how it works in the Indian context.
Lok Capital's Funds are focused on the role of entrepreneurship in addressing the inclusion challenge. In this aspect, inclusion is largely defined as providing products and services not available to the BoP. Lok Foundation complements it by focusing on other aspects of the inclusion challenge e.g. policy, government, corporate India etc.
The Foundation was started by Rajiv Lall as its, Chairman and Donald Peck, Vijay Advani, Greg McGowan, and Bunty Chand as founding Directors. |
