About Janalakshmi
Janalakshmi took root from the urban portfolio of a well-known MFI named Sanghamithra. Ramesh Ramanathan, Vice-Chairman of Sanghamithra, was instrumental in developing Janalakshmi’s urban portfolio. Seeking to reach a large spectrum of clients, Janalakshmi caters to a variety of financial needs in urban India, in the areas of enterprise, education, housing, asset, etc.

Mission
Janalakshmi envisions emerging, as a new age financial institution that seeks to service the micro-finance needs of urban India, albeit in a market-oriented fashion. Janalakshmi envisages evolving as the pioneer of individual based lending to the poor, outside the realm of the existing group-based models, a phenomenon that has always distinguished the prime market segment. Janalakshmi seeks to move beyond the narrow definition of micro-credit to a more broad based one of micro-finance, encompassing a range of financial services to include credit, savings, insurance, remittance services etc.
